SAUGATUCK (MI), NOV. 2, 2007 -- Seen left-to-right Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society's Harold Thieda and Vic Bella claim two surviving roof corbels from Saugatuck's former Butler Hotel from Dawn and Mel Gauthier, of Moez Antiques, at their booth in the Blue Star Antique Pavilion in Douglas. The Gauthiers donated one and the Society purchased its twin, both now destined for display at the Society's Museum. The Butler Hotel, established 1901, passed into history in 1973 when its top two floors were removed, leaving the first floor structure to become today's Butler Restaurant. Thieda is Chief Archivist for the Society and Bella is Curator of Objects.
