R. F. KLEEMAN

Reinhold F. Kleeman was born in Frankfort on the Oder, Germany, Jan. 12, 1838, and came to America in 1855 locating in The Flats as Saugatuck was then called, and entered business; he was married to Louisa M. Schuler who crossed the ocean from Germany to become his bride. She came from Dossenheim, Baden, Germany, being born in 1840. The marriage took place in 1864, and Mr. Kleeman had built a very nice home on the Kalamazoo (where now is Hotel Saugatuck, the Kleeman home being destroyed by fire.)

Here were born three children, Alvin R., Benton F. and Cora, the elder brother, Alvin, is deceased.

Mr. Kleeman passed on in 1894 and Mrs. Kleeman in 1922 at Chicago.
